During a conversation with "a friend indeed" on "Life" as /it is anyway very complicated. Sometimes completely right and ethical decisions lead to disastrous results. And sometimes even wrong decisions lead to wonderful results. So it is good to have a philosophy to enjoy life and not live with any regrets. Problems are always a part of Life. Only things to keep in mind is to be always be HONEST and not hurt anyone, at least consciously./
Being Honest-If practiced even from childhood, its difficult to implement in today's world. It should be world of its own, where you can change your attitudes by changing your behavior and hence can implement in life in due course of living.
" Honesty is the Best Policy " as per me is an out dated concept in present Era. The friend retaliated that Honesty is becoming an outdated concept because it is not always the best policy when it comes to dealing with the world. But it is the best policy from a self point of view, because then there is lesser likelihood of having any regrets.
Despite following it as my philosophy of life, conversing with the friend helped me to realize that there is a slight difference in my understanding, what my friend was referring "Being honest to Self and Being Honest to Others" that is the biggest difference.
Being Honest meant to be in the facet of moral character that connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, straightforwardness, including straightforwardness of conduct, along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc. Honesty also involves being trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere to friends, neighborhood, spouse, colleagues etc.
Being honest to self was one's own internal affair whereas Being Honest to Others is an external affair where one can or might be honest to self or to others; will not affect the main honesty of an INDIVIDUAL.
